Gary stood in his apartment, shouting at a mirror. ‘I am resilient! I am unstoppable!’ His cat, Muffin, yawned. Gary grabbed a sign that read ‘I BELIEVE IN ME’ and marched to the park. At the playground, he yelled, ‘I am powerful!’ as he swung on a swing so hard it snapped. A toddler nearby burst into tears. Gary paused, then cheered, ‘I am adaptable!’ He scooped up the kid, who giggled as Gary accidentally launched himself into a bush. ‘I am loved!’ he bellowed, twirling in the dirt. A group of joggers stopped, staring. Gary grinned. ‘Positive vibes only!’ He tripped over a squirrel and face-planted into a puddle. ‘I am fabulous!’ he sputtered, mud dripping from his hair. The joggers burst into applause. Gary winked at Muffin, who watched from the trees. ‘Affirmations: 1, Doubt: 0.’
